Process Benefits

The Deskins “Quick-Dry” Filtration Process is a proactive method of wastewater treatment, designed to separate solids and liquids.  Our process is proven and utilized in over 300 municipal, industrial, and agricultural facilities throughout the World and recommended by the US EPA.  Deskins “Quick Dry” Filtration Process has also been thoroughly tested in the swine industry in coordination with the USDA and North Carolina State University.  

 

 The Deskins “Quick Dry” Filtration Process produces outstanding results, affordably, offering:

 The Deskins “Quick Dry” Filtration Process has the flexibility to work with nearly any form and content of flow able wastewater to provide controllable, programmable and accurate liquid / solid separation.

In secure situations, the design and flow of the process allows the flexibility to recognize and fully optimize facility biosecurity rules, and coordinated with the current labor structure.  Outdoor signs and alarms, allow indoor personnel to flow wastewater (influent), operate flocculation, pour “Quick-Dry” Filters, and flow effluent while monitoring each from inside the production unit in order to maintain normal operating duties.

The “Quick-Dry” Filtration Media typically consists of a layer of sand placed over a substratum of differing grades of stone.  Using this system, allows for 100 percent media saturation within 10 minutes from the start of a pour.  If the “Quick-Dry” Filtration Media is pre-loaded (pre-saturated) with effluent, saturation occurs immediately.  The media’s layering imitates the Earth’s natural geological processes of filtering of liquids in highly controlled contained situation.  Different layers of aggregates including sand and stone are stratified to produce the maximum efficiency of the filtering process.  Additional sand may be required to maintain the accurate flow through the “Quick-Dry” Filter.  All media must be approved by Deskins for precision.  Biosolids material will be removed using Deskins AquaTrac Machinery.

The Technology Components that comprise the Deskins “Quick-Dry” Filtration Process include:  

Automatic Pour Sequencer: capable of providing a complete control schematic for automating the pouring process of a pre-determined number of beds.  Resulting in reduction of time required to manage and maintain the integrity of the Deskins “Quick-Dry” Filtration Process.  Self monitored and capable of unmanned shutdown if a problem occurs.
Pump Station: moving the wastewater (influent) above ground prior to gravitational movement through the remainder of the system.  An in-ground concrete vessel containing a progressive cavity electric pump to move liquid at a constant rate slightly above ground level.
Polymer Activation Process: integrated equipment package is provided to automatically meter, dilute, activate and feed liquid polymer and water.  Concentrated polymer and water is blended in a completely back-mixed environment.  Polymer Activation Process is flow paced with constant polymer solution delivered.  Correct polymer determination occurs through the following steps (1) gather sample of wastewater from facility any time significant change occurs, including; pig size, diet, medication, or climate, (2) send sample , (3) receive adjusted polymer or concentration change.
RapidFloc Mixer (Flocculation): provides a rapid mix of the activated polymer and wastewater (influent) followed by a detention chamber of sufficient volume to provide enhancement of floc growth (particle agglomeration) within a single unit.  Thus, through the proper mixing cycle, the RapidFloc Mixer creates a product that is ready to be filtered.  *Lagoon closeout is possible through the use of a portable RapidFloc Mixer.

"RapicFloc Mixer" is a new type of in-line mixing-flocculating device used to enhance the chemically induced liquid-solids separation in the sludge dewatering process utilized at most wastewater treatment plants.  

RapidFloc should be installed close to filter beds.  
Unit can be exposed or enclosed.

Trailer mounted Flocculation unit allows for remote storage during adverse weather conditions.

    

“Quick-Dry” Filtration: “Quick-Dry” Panels are an important part of the filter, made of PVC to provide integrity and strength.  Layers within the filter are constructed of a various gradations of stone for optimization of effluent (liquid) to flow away from biosolids.  When the filter is in-place the result is a flat surface with controllable drainage at ground level.  When constructed and managed properly, the Quick-Dry Filter will endure time, movement, weight, as well as provide proper rapid exiting of the liquid from the biosolid, through the filter and out using the underdrain system.  And give greater control to the discharge, seepage, and runoff of unwanted nutrients and heavy metals into the soil and groundwater.

AquaTrac Machines: designed to retrieve and move dewatered, dried biosolids from the top surface of the filter.  (Without using the proper machinery on top of the Quick-Dry Filtration Media, the filter could bind and prevent drainage.)  These machines play an integral role in the retrieval of biosolids from the top of the “Quick-Dry” Filter.

AquaTrac Skimmer/Loader retrieves the entire Filter with virtually no sand loss.  It also levels and prepares the Filter for the next pour.  Retrieved solids are broken into smaller or granular size particles which accelerates drying time for Class A Sludge.

   

Optional Components  ~ Dependent upon Operation Nutrient Goals: Effluent catch basin or tank to provide control can further alter remaining unwanted contents.  Depending upon the goals of inorganic nitrogen/phosphorus removal, disease-transmitting vectors/pathogen concerns and present lagoon concentrations or limitation.  

** As with any system, management is paramount.  The usage of the Deskins supplied materials will be used throughout the process. No changes to the patented process will occur.  

Warranty Information

F D Deskins Company, Inc. offers a “PERFORMANCE GUARANTEE” for Deskins “Quick-Dry” Filtration Process™.

F D Deskins Company, Inc. warrants all equipment supplied in the process to be free of defects in workmanship and materials.  F D Deskins Company Inc. will repair or replace (at our option), any part or product of the Deskins “Quick-Dry” Filtration Process™ which is returned to the factory and found to be defective under warranty for twelve (12) months, at no charge.  The warranty terms and duration begins with the date of shipment.

Additional Warranty features:

  1. F D Deskins Company, Inc. warrants the liquid-solid separation results for the time that Deskins polymer products are used.  Using the correct polymer is essential to obtain desired results; therefore, any polymer used in the Deskins “Quick-Dry” Filtration Process™ must be approved or decided through use of the Deskins polymer evaluation process.
